I trained for two years at Parnham. The John Makepiece School for Craftsmen in Wood gave me the necessary skills to set up my present workshop in this delightful part of Devon in 1985. I have been making contemporary furniture of an individual nature to commission ever since.

I opened my teaching workshop in 1994 for makers, hobbyists and those
who want to start a business or gain employment in established workshops. Many of my students have achieved this.

I am fortunate to be able to pass on the skills and techniques I have learned
not only from my training with such
tutors as Rob Ingham, Alan Peters, David Colwell, David Fields and other respected designers and makers, but also from creating furniture for clients, many of whom return to commission more pieces.

I was elected a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen in 1987.

When I am not teaching I am making furniture for my clients, so students gain from seeing a craftsman practising his skills at the bench or drawing board. Naturally, my students always come first and I am always available to give the appropriate lecture or guidance when the time is right.
