Every course is especially designed for each student on an individual basis. You may be someone who wants to become a skilled hobbyist or do a 'taster' course before going onto a full one year course, and do something particularly rewarding, creative and very satisfying.
Course lengths are from one to four weeks.
1. Introductory for the complete beginner
including tool preparation and tuning to perfection.
A simple piece can be made during this course.
2. Laminating techniques, and with special application to chair making.
3. Home cut and commercial veneering.
4. Cabinet design and all the components of successful cabinet making.
I have a comprehensive tool list for students attending my courses which I will send on request and the cost of these tools will very much depend on your budget. I have complete sets for you to use if you do not have any of your own. Unless you have some guidance it is unwise to buy tools before your course, especially if they are cut price from superstores. I make an allowance for timber for practice but wood for furniture could cost £300.00 upwards depending on your tastes. Ebony, Indonesian rosewood and burr walnut are expensive!
